PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLACEMENTS
Through this activity teachers, headteachers and senior school managers have an opportunity to gain an insight into businesses that would otherwise be unavailable.  The majority of PDPs are provided as group events. Others are based on one-to-one activities either in support of school management practices or to provide an opportunity for individual teachers to study a specific topic in depth.
Teachers and college lecturers.

Headteachers and senior management within schools and colleges.

School and college senior administrators.
TARGET GROUP
OBJECTIVES

To experience industry best practice in order to improve both the depth of knowledge in teaching both academic and vocationally based courses at all key stages.

To benefit from current business practices in order to build skills in management and enterprise amongst those responsible for school or college management.

Experience  best practice from business and foster this within an educational environment.

Benefit from a new accreditation scheme that contributes to teachers’ post graduate qualifications that has applied to most PDPs offered through Surrey EBP since February 2005.

An annual programme of single day group activities.

Individual placements for heads, teachers and other staff can be organised but six months' notice and flexibility in timing when such an activity can be undertaken by a member of staff is often necessary.

Bookings can sometimes be made for group placements in the week leading up to the event.  However, because of their reputation the majority of PDP activities are frequently over subscribed, therefore early booking is recommended.

The participant fee for most events is £30.
