| They will be given the title Surrey County Scholar.
The scholarship is dependent on the student taking their place at their chosen University in the year they apply. The payment is made in three or four stages, depending on the length of the course.
To receive the annual payment the student must undertake to provide a progress report and to maintain appropriate contact with their sponsoring Company.
No award will be given to a student who takes a gap year.
The teachers will be asked to recommend appropriate students early in the year prior to the student taking up their place at University.
The sponsoring Company may dictate the subject or range of subjects that they feel it appropriate to sponsor.
The Company may also request that the award be made to a student from a school in a specified area of the county.
The Head of Science/Head of Sixth Form and Headteacher, at the school recommends appropriate students, along with their UCAS form plus a letter of recommendation. This is followed by a Surrey SATRO selection board and finally the sponsoring Company.
Preference will be given to young people whose financial circumstances are such that an award will make a real contribution to their chance to go to University or, once there, to make their studies their principal focus. |
