YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS

Surrey SATRO delivers up to seven Innovation Challenges a year with approximately 160 sixth form students participating. These carefully designed challenges are prepared by company personnel to motivate and excite the students – the young entrepreneurs of the futures!
Sixth Form students– aged 17 – 19
STUDENTS
OBJECTIVES

To support the AS/A2 science and technology curriculum by providing opportunities to extend and enhance course work

To promote careers in science and engineering in schools and colleges

To offer to students the opportunity of working alongside company personnel and to experience their enthusiasm for their work

To help students develop Key Skills including those of team work, problem solving, information communication technology and presentation


To work with colleagues to design an innovative challenge for students which is linked to the work of the Company, e.g. BOC has a Helium Gas Challenge

To commit to participating in an initial briefing meeting at the end of September on company premises and to two follow up meetings, one in December and the other in February with a final Presentation meeting in early April

To be available to give advice either by telephone or E-mail


We help you to deliver your Company’s Corporate and Social Responsibility policy by supporting staff who wish to act as a volunteer working with teams from the schools and colleges

We promote your company’s involvement in the challenges in our annual celebration of students’ work.

Promoting science and engineering in schools and colleges

We will offer CRB checks to all volunteers working in schools and colleges.

The challenges provide young managers of the company the opportunity for development of skills and project management outside their normal environment
