Festival of Science and Engineering 2007

The Festival has been succesfully inspiring and encouraging students for 10 years, so how can we improve on an already excellent event?

To start with, we're trying out the idea of putting all of our coordination information on-line, so please take a look at www.surreysuccess.org which is set up especially for the Festival.

We're also trying out a new award this year - its called 'the competitors prize' and  you could relate it to being similar to 'players player' award in a football team. It means that YOU the students, will vote for the projects which YOU feel should be recognised.

We've also worked hard this year to bring you some really interesting and exciting speakers from the world of Science and Technology. Subjects ranging from how to save the Earth from marauding asteroids, to how to generate sustainable power from something which each and every one of us has access to.... and as well as this you'll see that some of our speakers will give ideas about what you could be doing after this Festival, maybe things that you hadn't even considered.... like maybe what to do with your gap year... or some other competitions and events which might be fun to participate in...

What else?..... we'll be bringing in some interesting school projects from outside Surrey - not to compete in the local stuff, but simply to generate discussion and help us to see what other ideas and approaches are out there.

Its terrific  that HRH The Duke of Kent will be presenting the prizes this year. This tells us how highly regarded your projects are, and how important they are seen to be. Make sure that you look your best for the photographs, because you'll want to keep these and add them to your portfolio (and probably on to you UCAS applicaion form).

Overall, we want to make the whole event interesting, inspiring and FUN.

Got any more ideas on how to do that? tell me... rob@surreysatro.org
